Oxide removal
Components cut with oxygen often exhibit dark, bluish oxide layers on the cut edges. These form due to the reaction of the heated material with oxygen during the cutting process. The resulting oxides pose an adhesion risk for subsequent processes: coatings do not adhere properly, flake off, and welds lose durability and rust more quickly. To ensure reliable and cost-effective further processing, the oxide layer must be completely and controllably removed.
At boeck, we rely on mechanical oxide removal using special wire brushes and oxide wheels. While chemical removal is also possible, it can lead to material damage, especially with thinner sheets, and require additional process steps. Our boeck oxide removal tools selectively scrape off the oxide layer, removing only excess material. The base material remains untouched.
